Valentines Day

Valentines day is a holiday much different from any other. There are many things that come to mind when I think of valentines day. Here are a few: guys buying girls flowers, love, guys buying girls chocolate.The conventions of Valentines day typically consist of couples celebrating their love for each other. Usually it is the male in the relationship who will do things such as buy flowers and other things for the female. An example of Valentines day in pop culture is the Valentines day Simpsons episode. In the episode Lisa Simpson feels bad for Ralph because it is Valentines day, and he has not received a single Valentine. So, Lisa walks over to Ralph's desk and gives him a nice Valentines day card. Ralph is amazed by the gesture, but he takes it the wrong way. Ralph believes that Lisa is interested in him because of the card. Lisa then spends the rest of the episode trying to tell Ralph she is not interested. Lisa flips the conventions of Valentines day around by giving Ralph a card, even though it is usually the other way around. She also gives a card to someone who she is not romantically involved with, which can be considered unconventional.
